Lauren
This first image of Lauren and her mom is a great example of an in between moment. We were transitioning from inside to outside and Katie was putting on her daughter's shoes. I try to always stay ready and I saw how their faces were in the same position and looked so similar. I love this because we probably wouldn't have thought of it and it just would not have been the same. They are concentrating on the shoes, but what you see is mother and daughter, together.
I sometimes wish I had more "documentation" of all that I do for my children on a daily basis. I don't desire accolades for it, but want them to know what they are worth to me. It is exhausting work, but we all do it, with love.
See Katie, your shoes look just fine in black and white. :)
We took a little walk in the park behind their home, and Dad pulled out some bubbles. Lauren got a little excited.

Allison
This little beauty greeted me by climbing up my leg to say hello. She was as sweet as sugar and tolerated me for quite a long time. We looked out the window and watched Daddy and then Mommy acting silly outside. We climbed stairs, read books, and even did bath time. Looking at a small collection such as these for the blog really makes me happy to be able to record a piece of the daily life of a child. It's why I like to focus on what they do naturally and how they spend their time. When you see the end result, there is so much more to connect with than just a traditional smiling face portrait.
I want to look back on the images of my children and have them make me remember a special thing we did together, a spot in the house they always played in, or that look they would give me. Those things change so quickly. My husband and I ask each other all the time, "What was that thing he used to do when he was falling asleep, or "remember the "nose face" look he used to do when he was feeling really ornery?" I love to help you preserve this things. That is what lifestyle photography is about.
This is Allison cheering along with her doll that talks. We had a good laugh when she suddenly did this. Only one time, but I got it.
Ok, these last two are favorites. This is what I mean by what children do naturally. Now if I showed up at John and Jill's door and said "I would love to photograph your daughter playing in the toilet", I would probably not be invited in. But, the fact that this is something she does naturally (when she is sneaky), it only makes sense to preserve it. Now, when they want to mention this to her boyfriend or husband years down the road, they will have an artistic print to pull out for all to admire. Sorry Allison. It had to be done. :)

Ozlem & Eylem
These two really helped to brighten my morning. They are very sweet together and had fun teasing back and forth. They actually admitted that they had a fight before I arrived, but you sure wouldn't know it from their images. We had a good time and they were great to work with. There is a lot of love here and this baby will be in a very warm and happy home. Look for their newborn session too coming up in the next month or so; maybe sooner!
Ozlem had a gift for Eylem as it was their 15th Anniversary as well. Beautiful cufflinks.

Scheduling Sessions
Just an FYI - I've added a calendar to the website so you can check availability ahead of time and get an idea of the schedule. May is Full and June and July are half full. Even though there are only a couple of dates crossed off on June and July, we have quite a few newborns to squeeze in there and of course we do not know those dates as of yet, so I need to leave some room in there.
Also, you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to schedule way ahead of time. I've had several clients mention that they are planning for sessions in the fall, and that time of year can get really hectic. October and November are very busy, and sessions are only available on weekends that time of year.
I just don't want you to have your heart set on something and then miss out.
Also, if you are expecting and planning a maternity or newborn session, please feel free to give me a holler. If you are not ready to book a date, I can just make note of the month and then let you know as it grows closer what is available.
I have the best clients in the world, and I've really enjoyed getting to know so many of you and share a little part of your lives, especially when time goes on and we are doing several sessions together. Thanks for helping me do something that I love, give you something that you love, and be able to be home with my family.

Blooms, Butterflies, and silly faces
We met at the Franklin Park Conservatory expecting tons of butterflies landing all over us and lots of excitement. It didn't quite go that way. Instead there was a wedding going on, a plant sale, lots of visitors, and very few butterflies that really weren't that friendly after all. Oh well, we took our lemons and made lemonade. These kids are the cutest and as soon as I saw the girls and their freckles I was hooked. Freckles are beautiful - my mom always said. She also said that they would fade as I grew older. Not so much.
FISHY LIPS!! I asked her to do this.
I have a lot of Kathryn- she was very into this.
A spontaneous junior bridesmaid look-a-like moment.
Beautiful family, beautiful Chihuly Glass, and a few butterflies as well.
